Anurag Kashyap – the Intelligent Filmmaker
It was 1998 when Anurag Kashyap
unleashed his talent as a writer with
a gritty, raw underworld film Satya.
In the next 10 years he had become
an acclaimed director and producer
with the films Black Friday, Dev D,
Udaan, Gangs of Wasseypur and The
Lunchbox. A global filmmaker today,
Kashyap’s films are a highlight at
international film festivals such as
Locarno, Venice and Cannes. In his
talk with Jyoti Vаrma he shares that
Indian cinema has still a lot to achieve
and that filmmakers should cooperate
to achieve something meaningful.
Kashyap claims the hypersensitive
audience as the biggest challenge
that Indian cinema has to face. The
filmmaker sees himself as an enabler
in a good film rather than only writer,
director or producer.
