India Club’s Life: 2018

On December 18th, 2017, at Session Hall 1 of So-
fia University the distinguished Bulgarian publisher,
writer and scholar and a member of the first Edito-
rial Council of the Friends of India Club’s annual
Svetilnik, Prof. Dr Vera Gancheva, made a presenta-
tion “In the Circle of Light” on the occasion of the
20th anniversary from the start of Svetilnik, estab-
lished in 1997. Svetilnik’s 19th issue was released
too. The Ambassador of India to Sofia HE Ms Pooja
Kapur attended the event. It was covered for the
Bulgarian National TV by Daniela Kaneva.
On January 8th, 2018, at the Conference Hall
of SU Prof. Dr Gabriela Nik. Ilieva from New York
University, recipient of Hindi Sevi Samman Award,
gave lecture 36 in FIC’s Lectoria on “India: Incom-
prehensible without Its Past”.
On January 23rd FIC was a partner in the Even-
ing of India at the Sofia MENAR Film Festival with
a screening of the Hindi feature film “Mary Kom”.
On March 26th at the Conference Hall of SU
Dr Mirella Lingorska-Grafe from Zurich Univer-
sity gave lecture 37 in FIC’s Lectoria on “Old Indian
Rhetoric”.
On April 2nd at the Conference Hall of Sofia
University Dr Antoaneta Zarkova presented a lec-
ture on “Ayurveda on the Importance of the Large
Bowel for the Health and in Healing Strategies”,
fourth in the cycle “Introduction to Ayurveda”.
On May 15th at Sofia Press Gallery the book
“India. A Planet of Its Own” by Mr Morfi Skarlatov
