Artists that Paved the Path to Indian Art
in 20th Century

After the Independence was declared in 1947 Mehta, Raza, Souza, Padamsee, Hussein, Hana
a movement for modernization of visual arts and Ram Kumar are among the foremost Indian
sprang up in India. It was led by the so called abstract artists and are world famous. Their
Bombay Progressive Artists’ Group, founded by works are highly valued and acknowledged at
few young painters, who come from different international level as these artist create unique
regions and diverse social, ethnic and religious art combining traditional Indian concepts with
background, but are united by their goal to take modern, innovative and provocative approaches
Indian art to the world scene. And they actually – an art which is a reflection of India’s eternity
succeeded. Members of the group as Gaitonde, and unity in diversity.
