People, by the People

The Constitution of India is the longest
written constitution of any sovereign nation in
the world. The original text of the document
contained 395 articles at its enforcement in
1950. This simple fact speaks of the wish of
Indian law-makers to comply the Constitution
with the growth and development of the nation.
It was framed by the Constituent Assembly of
India and Dr B. R. Ambedkar, the chairman
of the Drafting Committee, is considered its
chief architect. The Constitution provides a
comprehensive framework to guide and govern
the country, keeping in view her unique social,
cultural and religious diversity. The success of
the Indian Constitution, for a country as diverse
and complex as India, continues to intrigue,
impress and inspire experts around the world.
