The Friends of India Club is a nongovernmental voluntary organization, registered under the Noncommercial Legal Entities Act. It organizes cultural events – talks, projections, performances, seminars, meetings, celebrations and exhibitions, acquainting Bulgarian public with different aspects of India’s cultural and historical heritage and its present day developments as well with the achievements of Bulgarian scholarly Indology, the bilateral relations between Bulgaria and India and the opportunities to expand the nongovernmental and economic contacts between them, with the related to India works of Bulgarian artists, writers, musicians and scholars, and with distinguished Indian intellectuals and authors. The Club holds a Lectoria – a series of public lectures by specialists on India, and it has an annual edition – the “Svetilnik” magazine, which reflects its activities and presents important highlights of Bulgarian-Indian relations and the Indian reality along with news, fiction, reviews and analyses.
